Check Received from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA): The City received a $1.2M check from the FHWA to reimburse the City for the 2023 winter storm emergency repairs to Bean Creek road. In November, the City received a check for just over $900K for the Green Hills road repairs. We are grateful for support from Congressional Representative Panetta’s office as well as the staff at Caltrans who helped expedite our reimbursements.

Glenwood Drive Emergency Repair Work: Work on the emergency repair of the Glenwood slide began this week. City staff has been coordinating with Anderson Pacific on the design and construction of a retaining wall to stabilize the roadway. A temporary one-lane traffic configuration with stop control is in place to allow safe construction access and maintain vehicle safety. We ask that residents drive cautiously and follow all temporary traffic control measures.

Countywide Safety Action Plan: The countywide Safety Action Plan draft will be completed this week. City staff will review the draft and provide comments over the next few weeks, and all comments will be addressed in the final version of the plan.

Al Shugart Park Design Concept: Last night, the Parks and Recreation Commission unanimously recommended approval of the Al Shugart park concept design. The next steps will include completing the environmental review and finalizing the design to bring to Council for final approval.

New Recreation Employee: A new employee in the Recreation Department started today. Claire McKinney will provide part-time temporary support to the Senior Center as a receptionist as well as other administrative help to the Recreation team.

Recreation Activity Management Software: Recreation also launched their new activity management software this week. This has been a yearlong process to select a more modern vendor, set up the system, and transition records. They also plan to launch a new app in January which residents can use to sign up for classes, make reservations and more.
