The City received 25 applications to Citizens Academy, and we were able to accept 19 applicants. Unfortunately, we don’t have room to accept everyone and even 19 will be a stretch. We appreciate everyone’s interest in participating.

The City received 13 applications for our Community Grant Program with a total ask of over $150,000. The review panel has begun the difficult task of scoring each proposal, and we’re planning to bring funding recommendations to Council on March 18.

Between 9:00 AM and 2:30 PM on Thursday, Friday, and the following Monday and Tuesday, only one northbound left-turn lane and one through lane will remain open. Traffic delays are anticipated during these periods, and drivers should plan accordingly.

At the request of CalCities, and in alignment with the City’s Legislative Platform, we submitted a letter of support for SB 922, sponsored by John Laird. This bill clarifies local agencies’ ability to include in the franchise fees street maintenance and repair costs due to heavy vehicles. This includes garbage, recycling, and green waste collection trucks. This bill is needed in response to a recent court case that challenged cities’ ability to include these costs in their franchise fees.
