PUBLIC HEARING
Continued from the August 8, 2022 regular City Council meeting.
A. Consideration by the City Council of Resolution Finding that the Housing Element is Consistent with the Purposes of the State Aeronautics Act and Overruling the Orange County Airport Land Use Commission' s Determination that the Adopted Housing Element is Inconsistent with the 2017 Airport Environs Land Use Plan - That the City Council: 1. Conduct the public hearing; and, 2. Adopt Resolution 7324 Finding that the General Plan 2021- 2029 Housing Element is Consistent with the Purposes of the State Aeronautics Act and Overruling the Orange County Airport Land Use Commission' s Determination that the Adopted Housing Element is Inconsistent with the 2017 Joint Forces Training Base Los Alamitos Airport Environs Land Use Plan.
Community Development Director Smittle provided a comprehensive background on the staff report. Council Members provided comments and questions were addressed.
City Clerk Harper announced that one ( 1) supplemental communication and ten emailed comments from the August 8, 2022 were included in the agenda packet, and five ( 5) emailed comments were received after posting of the agenda that were distributed to the City Council and made available to the public.
Mayor Kalmick reopened the public hearing. Speakers: Stephanie Wade and Patty Campbell. Mayor Kalmick closed the public hearing.
Mayor Kalmick reopened the public hearing to allow Nicole Manzo to speak as she was experiencing technical difficulties during the public comment portion of the meeting.
Mayor Kalmick closed the public hearing.
Council Member Sustarsic provided a statement in opposition to the item addressing her concerns.
Council Members provided additional comments.
Mayor Pro Tern Varipapa moved, second by Council Member Massa- Lavitt, to adopt Resolution 7324 finding that the General Plan 2021- 2029 Housing Element is Consistent with the Purposes of the State Aeronautics Act and Overruling the Orange County Airport Land Use Commission' s Determination that the Adopted Housing Element is Inconsistent with the 2017 Joint Forces Training Base Los Alamitos Airport Environs Land Use Plan.
City Clerk Harper took a roll call vote to approve Item A.

Mayor Kalmick adjourned the Special City Council meeting at 8: 21 p. m. to Monday, September 12, 2022 at 5: 30 p. m. to meet in closed session, if deemed necessary.
