MEALS ON WHEELS

COMMUNITY SOCIAL SERVICES GRANT

YEAR END REPORT
Seaside City Council Meeting
2/1/24
1 MOWMP appreciates Seaside City and the
ongoing support and relationship we have
supporting homebound residents.

Meals on Wheels of the Monterey Peninsula
(MOWMP) continues to serve homebound
seniors, disabled adults, and veterans who are
residents of the city of Seaside. MOWMP's
Home Delivered Meals program has developed
over the past 52 years to meet the complex
nutritional health needs of clients who cannot
shop or cook for themselves.

It is currently the only program on the
Monterey Peninsula who deliveries 3 nutritious
meals five days a week (with food for six days
of the week) to the homebound by caring
volunteers.
2 The volunteers are also trained
to do a wellness check on each
client during the meal delivery
and often, these are the only
person that the homebound
client sees each day. MOWMP
delivers more than a meal, this
way.
3 Seaside has 9 routes, Vil is Villages in
Seaside.

Our delivery routes and drivers for each
route. Every column is a day of the
week and every row is a route. 4
The cold items of food for each client go into each one of these white buckets. These are all the clients for Thursday, February 1, ready to fill.

MOWMP served 251 homebound
residents of Seaside with this grant. This
is approximately $200 per client. Our
meal costs on average $5/meal or
$15/day. This has helped provide food
for 13-14 days. The generosity of the
City of Seaside has made this possible
and we are deeply grateful for your
support.

The main challenges we have
encountered include the continued rising
cost of food and gas as we have a
continued demand for services. We have
been anticipating opening our new
second commercial kitchen in Seaside,
but that has had delays, and we are
working to continue to meet the
demand in the meantime.
