• The Seaside Police Department is proud to present the Interaction of the Month Award for January 2025 to an outstanding team who went above and beyond to ensure our community's safety and understanding of new parking regulations. • On January 1st, 2025, the Daylighting Law went into effect, prohibiting vehicles from parking within 20 feet of an intersection with a crosswalk, painted or not.

While this law had a significant impact, there was a need for clearer communication about restricted areas. Taking initiative, a dedicated team from the Seaside Police Department decided to request permission from City Council to begin painting red curbs in high-traffic areas throughout the city to help mark the new restricted parking zones. Throughout January, they worked hard, painting numerous areas to improve street visibility and educate the community. In March, the team will present a plan to the Traffic Advisory Committee to receive feedback on additional areas that need attention. Their proactive actions will make our streets safer and more easily understood by the public. • For their dedication and teamwork, we are honored to present Parking Compliance Specialists Klotz and DeLeon, Vehicle Abatement Officer Montes, and Animal Control Officer Kjellgren with the Seaside Police Department's Interaction Thursday, February 20, 2025 City Council REGULAR Meeting Page 2 of the Month Award for January 2025.
