Dear City Council,
I want to first thank you for making strides improve our community. With that I want to encourage you to choose plan B in your renovation of Ives Park.
Removing the baseball field would be a detriment not only for Sebastopol but for the whole West county community for generations to come. It would cause a devastating blow to an important program that teaches our youth the importance of teamwork, sportsmanship and hard work. My boys spent hundreds of hours practicing, playing games and umpiring at that field. They worked incredibly hard to be able to play under the lights and that's a memory that my family will always hold dear.
In addition, I believe removing the field would also impact the local businesses in a negative way. With the field many families eat and support local businesses numerous times a week. I for one can say my family of four ate out in Sebastopol at least 3 times a week when my children were playing at that field. As a baseball mom I know this is also true for a large number of other families.
With that I again encourage you to please choose Plan B in your renovations and save our field!
