Dear Sebastopol City Council,
I am a native Sebastopol resident and currently own my home near Ives Park in Sebastopol. I walk by this Park daily with my two Boxer dogs (you may recognize me!). I am writing in opposition to any proposals to eliminate Polley Field from Ives Park. As a former member of the Board of Sebastopol Little League, I helped fundraise to maintain this essential field for our small town. It is the only field with lights which provides an opportunity for teams to get their field time. It is also especially exciting for the age-group that plays at this field to "play under the lights." My two kids (now at West County High), both played under the lights and enjoyed having their ball field within walking distance of their home. This centrally located gem-of-a-field is part of our town's heart and soul. Eliminating it would be such a significant loss to our kids, especially when as parents, we are continually trying to find programs that engage children in outdoor activities (and away from their devices). Please reject any plans that would get rid of Polley Field.
