Dear Sebastopol City Council,
We would like to advocate for the passage of Agenda Items #5 and #14, the purchase of a much-needed fire engine and crucial staffing for our Police Department. Taxpayers expect that fire and police services be at the top of the City’s budget list.

Our fire engines are so outdated that repair parts are no longer available. The city saves so much money by having a volunteer department, that safe equipment should be provided for them. Every fire season, our firefighters go on strike teams all around the state and make money for our department.

Sebastopol has an aging population that requires our firefighters to do many medical responses. We need to do everything we can to make their response time quicker and safer.

Because of these reasons, there should be no question to support the purchase of a new fire engine.

Supporting the staffing of the police department will help in monitoring the new parking ordinance. Our city is still considered a safe place to live, and we need to ensure this holds true by properly staffing our police department.

Again, please vote yes on agenda items #5 and #14 to show your support of our fire and police departments.

Thank You,
Chip and Loretta Castleberry
