Hello;
I'm emailing to address an item on the city council agenda for this evening 2/23/2022 - the RV ban.
The 'Not in my Backyard' argument is a tired one and displacing people doesn't solve anything except to make landowners more comfortable in their already privileged situations. Perhaps some real steps could be taken to make our town more hospitable, including to people living in vehicles. More toilets and trash cans would be a start.
Banning sleeping in vehicles/RVs feels awfully classist. For someone to have a safe and comfortable place to sleep is much more important than ridding Sebastopol of what some may consider an 'eye sore'. Who are we to judge how someone lives? I hope tonight's meeting reflects the welcoming attitude that we wish Sebastopol to have.
