Sebastopol, CA 95472
March 15, 2022
I am entering this document into the public record.

Dear Mayor Slayter, Councilmembers, Staff and Citizens of Sebastopol:

In October of 2021 The City Council hastily and unanimously passed a nearly $5 million proposal to upgrade our city. Nearly half of this - $2.2 million - is devoted to converting all 3,000 of Sebastopol's traditional water meters to “smart” EMF-emitting meters.

And I ask, WHY?
For, this will mean:
1) Adding a layer of Electro-magnetic frequency (EMF) transmissions throughout our City – and bringing with it, well-documented health challenges to all living beings – humans included.
2) Introducing a 5G Turnkey operation into our town. Just like the “smart” water meter system in Santa Fe, NM, in which a February 5, 2021 Report to Administration & Governing Body states,
Have been notified that cell service providers are moving forward with replacing 3G network for 5G system and equipment. As the City’s endpoint[s] are mostly 3G, we have been encouraged by service provider [Orion – same as Sebastopol] to move ahead with a more aggressive replacement schedule to get endpoints upgraded to 4G(LTE) or 5G.” [bolding-mine]
3) Loss of privacy, control and security of our personal and public data. Making individuals and public entities more and more vulnerable due to cyber-hacking and malware. Let's not forget - our city recently experienced the loss of a sizable amount of money, for this very reason.
4) Losing local control over our most precious resource - our water – As our data moves faster and further beyond, to increasingly distant corporate entities, so will our ability to influence its use.

In the end, it's all so sad. Such a BOONDOGGLE!
We citizens deserve better! There's got to be a way out of this mess! Sincerely,
