I believe our Sebastopol Police Department would be a great addition to assisting with traffic congestion that occurs during the Gravenstein Apple Fair, which is held in August each year. • The Gravenstein Apple Fair is a wonderful community event that brings a substantial number of tourists to our city each August. As with the Apple Blossom Festival, GAF is a signature local event that puts Sebastopol on the map and benefits our local businesses and residents.
We hope you’ll consider supporting their request for sponsorship. We are a long-time partner of Farm Trails and the Gravenstein Apple Fair, participating for years (decades?) by running the apple pie baking contest at the Fair.
• The volume of vehicles waiting to enter Ragle Park at the 4 way stop sign at the entrance historically causes traffic to back up all the way into downtown Sebastopol, particularly on Mill Station Rd., Covert Lane, Hwy 12, and Hwy 116. This impacts attendees, residents, and local businesses alike. Having official Sebastopol Police Department officers directing the flow of traffic would greatly mitigate traffic jams and provide smoother and safer entry to the fair for vendors, presenters, volunteers, pie bakers, and attendees.
