Subject: Fire Department / Woodmark Apartments:
Date: Wednesday, May 18, 2022 10:22:10 AM
Dear Planning Director Svanstrom, Fire Chief Braga, City Council Members, and Staff, Please work with the developers of Woodmark Apartments to ensure that 4 apartments are reserved for Fire Department Volunteers.
This would facilitate the Fire Department Foundation to pay for new volunteers tuition at the Public Safety Training Center and provide affordable housing with their commitment to Sebastopol.
With talk of staffing by our Fire Department, if two of the four Woodmark Apartment volunteer firefighter residents work day jobs and two night jobs as their main employment, that would enable two additional volunteers to be within running distance of the Fire Department 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. And, if their days off coincide, that's 4 additional firefighters than can be at the Firehouse in 2-minutes or less.
Thinking outside the box for solution.
Please reply with your thoughts. Take good care,
Michael Carnacchi
