Dear Members of the Sebastopol City Council and Planning Department, I am writing regarding several of my concerns about the proposed Woodmark Development on Bodega Avenue. As I have mentioned previously, I have two children who often walk to school and nearby parks and I have serious concerns that the increased traffic brought on by the new development will compromise pedestrian safety in the area.
In addition, I am concerned about the well-being of the trees adjacent to the development. The developer's current plans show a fence line going through two decades-old heritage oak trees on my property to the north of the development. I think the current plans for grading, retaining walls, paving and fencing are certainly going to damage some of the precious trees on all the surrounding properties. I also fear the lighting for the parking areas will brightly shine into our yards and spoil our enjoyment of the evenings and nights.
All of these factors will certainly have a negative impact on our neighborhood and community. I understand the need for affordable housing and I hope a different plan that is more appropriate for the setting can be considered.
Thank you,
Tamaki Myers
