PROCLAMATION OF THE CITY OF SEBASTOPOL
PROCLAIMING SEPTEMBER 2022 AS
NATIONAL SENIOR CENTER MONTH
WHEREAS, Celebrated every year in September, Senior Center Month is a time to shine a light on senior centers, showing the entire nation how vital they are to the health and wellbeing of a community; and WHEREAS, Senior centers provide countless hours of support and encouragement to older adults, and have become integral to health care delivery in our communities by providing COVID-19 guidance, vaccine education, and vaccinations to their participants. And they've played a role in addressing an issue that we all knew was important even before the pandemic: social isolation; and
WHEREAS, the Sebastopol Area Senior Center is the Sebastopol local, trusted place in the community that connects people to the programs, services, and opportunities they need to age well; and
WHEREAS, the Sebastopol Area Senior Center creates and maintains an environment that encourages independence for older adults by providing learning, social, and recreational opportunities in the continuing pursuit of a fulfilling and healthy life; and WHEREAS, the Sebastopol Area Senior Center and the City of Sebastopol values our seniors and advocates that no senior needs to face the challenges of aging alone.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT I, Mayor Patrick Slayter, and the City of Sebastopol City Council do hereby proclaim September 2022 as National Senior Center Month and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the City of Sebastopol expresses our appreciation for our local Sebastopol Area Senior Center for their continued efforts in celebration our Seniors for their contributions, support their independence, and recognize their unparalleled value to Sebastopol and beyond.
