Hello all,
The benefits of public permanent parklets out way a few car spaces in a myriad of ways. • Increases the number of people adjacent to businesses. 10 to 14 people can occupy a Parklet instead of 2 to 6 in parked cars that are often unoccupied • Makes cars passing through town and near Parklets slow down when more people are present.
• Our sidewalks are smaller than other towns and limit the number of people to two side by side, hence people cannot congregate.
• Parklets add color, vibrance and vegetation to make the town more enticing and inviting.

Similar to European towns where people come to meet and stay a while.

The fact that Caltrans wants to charge a lease fee for Parklet spaces should be challenged.

Is this a penalty for people choosing to walk and congregate in town vs free to drivers? Shouldn't that be the other way around if we want to support a healthy town environment? The estimates for design and construction of a permanent parklet 85K total - seems like it can be done for much less if this is an obstacle.

Taming of Sebastopol
I personally feel the Parklets, Bike Lanes and Pedestrian Routes are taming Sebastopol and moving it into a much more livable and enjoyable experience.
