Subject: In support of our local Fire Department!!!
Date: Monday, January 30, 2023 7:04:12 PM
Dear Council Members!
I am a long time resident of the city of Sebastopol and I SUPPORT THE SEBASTOPOL FIRE DEPARTMENT.
I do not support the annexation of the Sebastopol Fire Department by the Gold Ridge District.
I want local control of our fire service. Since my tax money and our City budget are going to fund a fire service, I request as a resident to retain control and a saying how the money is spent, how it is generated and how service is delivered.
There is no guarantee that the Gold Ridge Fire district will always vote and fund service to the benefit of Sebastopol’s citizen. Sebastopol will become a side case. Sebastopol will become a small voice in a much larger fire district and there is also no guarantee that our voices and needs will be heard, yet we would be funding the district through the City Budget and parcel tax.
Once we loose local control over fire service, we can't get it back! PLEASE, vote NO ON THE ANNEXATION OF OUR FIRE DEPARTMENT! In addition I am asking the City Council strongly to commit to funding our Fire Department and to commit using vehicle replacement funds toward vehicle replacement.
Thank you,
sincerely,
Isabel Wundsam
