Subject: Rescheduling Public Comment period
Dear Council Members,
Rescheduling Public Comment from the beginning to the end of your meetings sends a strong message that the public’s views are not important.
The public will not know how long they will have to wait before speaking to their City Council when meetings typically last past 10:30 PM. This unfairly discourages working families and elders who typically go to bed early from participating in ouir community’s civic decision making.
Keeping the Public Comment period at the beginning of meetings would bring issues and concerns to the Council's attention that may not have considered.
Public Comment has taken approximately 30 minutes at the beginning of your meetings. Please keep this tradition. It is your responsibility to listen to the concerns of your constituents.
