RE: Support of Farm Trails Request; 2023 Gravenstein Apple Fair Dear Mayor Hinton and members of the Council,
It is my understanding that Sonoma County Farm Trails has asked for Police Department support and financial sponsorship for the 2023 Gravenstein Apple Fair.
I urge your support of this request.
I have lived at the corner of Covert and Hansen Lanes for forty-four years. Since our Police Department started assisting with parking an traffic control, I have seen vast improvements.
Traffic has been significantly more orderly and smooth flowing and folks on foot and in vehicles seem much more relaxed. It looks to me that they appreciate the efficient organization of parking and entrance to the Fair: Traffic has also slowed which has improved the safety of pedestrians traveling along Covert Lane and Ragle Road as well as many other side streets used by attendees.
The Gravenstein Apple Fair is a signature event for Farm Trails and has become a community gem. It showcases our local history and helps connect people to agriculture. It is a central player in an expanding recognition of the value associated with utilizing local products and vendors. In my opinion, it is an event which is worthy of financial support from the City and I urge you to act favorably on the request form Farm Trails,
