I am a 30-year veteran of the Sebastopol Fire Department. I have a full-time job as well as my commitment to the Sebastopol Fire Department. Over my career with the Sebastopol Fire Department our call volume has increased every year. During 2022 the Sebastopol Fire Department responded to 1325 911 calls. Individually I responded to 754 of those requests. My responses occur on weekends and during the evening and early morning on weekdays. I am very discouraged by the budget committee’s proposal to remove the $80k incentive line item from the Sebastopol Fire Departments 20223-2024 budget. Personally, I find it incredibly discouraging that you would recommend eliminating money that is earmarked to encourage participation. My request is that you fund the incentive line item.
