Sebastopol [Seh-BAS-tah-pole] has relied on financial reserves the past three years to balance the city budget, and has a projected $1.67 Million deficit this year. The City has been told by expert financial planners that if it continues this way, the City will be out of money within five years.

The City has recently added back a police sergeant to bring the City closer to full staffing, they’ve added a fire engineer to improve response times, and they have also funded critical positions to help deal with homelessness and other vital community needs.

There are a variety of opportunities the city could take to raise revenue, including a special sales tax. [GO TO Q2]
