Dear City Council Members,
I am writing this letter in support of amending the proposed Rent Stabilization Ordinance to limit increases in space rent in Sebastopol mobile home parks to no more than 70% of the Consumer Price Index or a maximum increase of 4% per year, whichever is less. I believe this is Agenda Item #7 at tonight’s City Counci’s meeting.

I turn 75 years old in November. As a result, I am not easily able to supplement my fixed retirement income. The 6% increase in space rent this year has already put a burden on my finances. I love Sonoma County, but fear that if this type of increase continues, I will no longer be able to live here.

I also oppose allowing rent increases when a mobile home changes ownership. There is very little low-income housing in Sebastopol, and Fircrest Mobile Home Park has been a refuge for low-income seniors who live in Sebastopol for years. Increases such as these will eventually prohibit this vulnerable population from living here.

It would be a shame to allow Park owners to price seniors out of their homes! I know I am not alone in my opinion or situation. Thank you in advance for your support of your Sebastopol Seniors!
Sincerely,
Vimlan VanDien
