Dear Council Members,
In discussion with another parent, I was informed of an Analy High School Student who was recently mugged at Ives Park at 6:30pm. The student was beat up, his rib was cracked and his personal possessions were stolen. The other parent said that when she spoke to the Police Department, the officer commented that several muggings of a similar nature had taken place in Ives Park.
In light of this, I ask that the Police Department give more attention to Ives especially after school and during nighttime hours when pedestrians might be accessing the park on a commute home from work or dining.
Does the Police Department need additional officers to have a more visible presence downtown and at Ives in order to ensure community safety?
Thank you,
Kate Haug
