Dear Sebastopol City Council,
I am writing to express our support for Recology as the composting, recycling, and garbage service provider for the City of Sebastopol.
We greatly appreciate Recology’s commitment to our community and their dedication to environmental sustainability. They have been an outstanding partner of the Gravenstein Apple (GAF) Fair since 2018, providing both cash sponsorships and in-kind donations of bins & hauling services for our annual fundraiser.
The Gravenstein Apple Fair is proud to be over 95% zero waste. Last year, for over 14,500 attendees, only 3 cubic yards of trash were sent to the landfill (~ the size of the bed in a small pickup truck). Diverting discards to minimize our impact on the landfill is a huge priority, and we could not have achieved such impressive metrics without the support of our local hauler.
Recology Waste Zero Specialist Ambrosia Thomson has been a tremendous resource and excellent liaison over the years. She has assisted our team with advance planning and onsite education to help us achieve our goals.
Working with Recology has been a positive and productive experience, and we are grateful for the ways they support and engage with our community, especially their alignment with our shared Zero Waste ethos and initiatives.
