Honorable members of Sebastopol City Council,
Please support the immediate cease-fire in all Palestinian territories now. If not for our dollars, Israel could not have prolonged this attack and militarized the Gaza territories to the extent that they have.
As tax-payers we are responsible for how our federal dollars are spent on militarism and war outside our borders. Join over 70 other American cities, from Chicago and Detroit to our neighbors in the greater Bay Area to pass an immediate cease fire resolution.
Sebastopol, if it is to maintain the moniker of "Peace Town", needs to take this stand morally and politically. President Biden and other members of congress need to know how our communities feel on the ground. They can't keep using Trump as a bogey-man when they are supporting outrageous military expenditures, while our cities are left to deal with the lack of resources for our schools, healthcare, and homelessness. This council is left to deal with these issues and a myriad of others while we spend billions of dollars overseas for bombs, targeted at mostly women and children. This has to stop.
