Dear Sebastopol City Councilmembers,
As a Bodega Bay resident, I am not quite a constituent of Sebastopol . But I do spend a lot of time in the stores and restaurants of your fine town and regard it as the cultural center of Sonoma county. In that vein, you would be sending a beautiful message to residents throughout the north bay and beyond by signing the ceasefire resolution that is before you. The US is on the wrong side by supporting and assisting what Israel is doing to the Palestinians. I do not condone what Hamas did on October 7 but it does not come close to justifying Israel’s onslaught of killing and destruction of Gaza. Israel claims it is acting in self defense, but under what circumstances can genocide be considered legitimate self defense? None that I can think of. Israel wants to either destroy the Palestinians or get them to leave the country. They want it all to themselves. This is a recipe for continued conflict and disaster.
Please join the growing number of cities and organizations around the world that are calling for a ceasefire.
