Subject: Senior Center Funding

Dear Diana, Stephen, Neysa, Sandra, Jill, Don, and Mary, I have just been informed that the City Of Sebastopol is considering removing funding from the Sebastopol Senior Center. This saddens me on so many levels.
Sebastopol is a haven to the elders and the Sebastopol Senior Center is like the Club House at the hub of that haven.
In an age of digital indifference and disconnect, the SSC is the stand out where I can count on a warm welcome, dependable organization, a sense of hope and community in their offerings of excursions, classes, and workshops, and the sweetest little cafe in all of Sebastopol!
Just this week my husband and I had lunch at the cafe. We had not been able to go in many weeks due to the sudden illness and subsequent death of my husband’s brother. When we arrived, we were greeted by the servers with such warmth and love. They asked where we had been and said we had been missed. Oh my! Where are we received like that these days? Such a gift!
The SSC provides vital services and resources that contribute to the well-being and quality of life for our rapidly growing senior community here in Sebastopol! In what I had considered a town with a progressive government, I am hoping the result of your consideration of the funding of the Sebastopol Senior Center results in an INCREASE in funding in recognition that the elders in a community are irreplaceable and to be treasured.
In gratitude for your wise leadership,
Christine Cole
