Subject: Funding for Sebastopol Senior Center
Date: Tuesday, March 12, 2024 5:27:57 PM
Sebastopol City Council Members,
I recently heard that the City council is considering dropping all funding to it's Senior Center.
I've been a property owner of the city for over 47 years. One of the major reasons I choose to remain in Sebastopol, when we downsized our residence in 2022, was the Senior Center and what it offer to seniors in our area. I've just entered the age where I will rely on the center more for it's resources to allow me to remain to live independently in this community.
I've taken classes and attended seminars there that have been really informative and helpful. In the future I will rely even more on it's ride program (along with the local bus!) when I no longer drive. And to remain engaged socially.
Our community seems to have an above average % of the population over 65 so as " boomers" age, this resource will be in even more demand.
For me this is one of the top things I would hope you won't cut funding to.... just under our Fire and Police departments.
Sincerely,
Gail Peters Kinzel
