Subject: Future of Funding for the Senior Center
Date: Wednesday, March 13, 2024 8:01:26 PM
Dear Mayor Rich, Vice Mayor Zollman, Council Members Hinton, Mauer, and McLewis, Ahead of possible future budget cuts, I wish to highlight the importance of the Sebastopol Senior Center in my personal life. Having moved to Sebastopol a little over a year ago, I found the senior center to be a vital link in establishing a social network and engaging in meaningful activities to keep me healthy and vital as I enter my last 20 - 30 years! I have already joined the art group on Friday mornings, and look forward to joining a games (Mah Jong, Scrabble, etc.) group, and the SAIL classes. The people I have met and the activities I have participated in so far have proven to be stimulating and I can’t imagine not having a place to gather and meet others in my age range with similar interests. In a community with such a high percentage of seniors, the senior center is more than a precious gem but an important lifeline for many who would otherwise fade away in the invisible sea of the silver haired obscurities.

Thank you for your time and consideration,
Laurie Finkelstein
