Hello Mayor and Councilmembers,
Please add my name to those in full support of the City covering the City-staff costs for the annual Apple Blossom Festival. The benefits the City receives due to our Chamber producing this event are significant, and perhaps a quick calculation would show that the City nets significant money from the major bump in TOT and sales tax due to this annual event.
Investing in the event is good financial policy for the City. Plus the residents and businesses thrive and receive innumerable benefit.
Many jurisdictions pay for and produce these sorts of community benefit events on their own.
We are fortunate to have the private sector stepping in to help our small town shine and offer consistent annual community celebrations. I know money is very tight, but please make an exception for events that drive business to town and thereby raise the City revenue. The contribution the City would be making would offset the enormous total cost shouldered by the Chamber and supporters, and be a real help to our community.
