Hello Council Members:

I am so glad to see that the ceasefire resolution is back on your agenda for the 4/2 meeting.

Sebastopol constituents and West County residents are overwhelmingly in favor of your passing this resolution. The real question is why has it not been passed.

The death toll at your last council meeting was 32,726. Today it has reached the 35,000+ mark. What prevents you from signing onto a ceasefire that would help millions from being killed in the open air prison the Palestinian people have been herded into without food, water, shelter or medical supplies. Palestinians have no jet fighters or tanks or rapid fire artillery. They are fleeing death on foot, on wooden donkey drawn carts. Their tent cities are being bombed. Can you imagine what that would be like?
I implore you to join other municipalities across the country that have signed onto a ceasefire resolution. Let us maintain the status of “PeaceTown” with an action that backs up our name. Watching our country back this genocide is one of the most painful things I have ever witnessed in my long lifetime. As painful as observing all the war atrocities that have occurred over the past 75 years.

Please pass the resolution. A ceasefire is the best option for all concerned.

Barbara Lee
Sebastopol Resident
