Dear Council Members,
I ask you to continue with zoom participation for the foreseeable future. I ask this as there are many critical issues on the horizon such as water rates and budget items, which should have public input.
As a Council meeting participant, I was saddened and disturbed by the repeated hate language at the last meeting. Racist comments and hate language are disruptive and take the focus away from important City business.
While it is clear there is a network of zoom bombers, who most likely live out of state and have a specific agenda which has absolutely nothing to do with our City business, Council should not remove the ability for citizens to participate in public comment.
Sebastopol has an elderly population, a parent population, a non-driving population whom need to access Council meetings via zoom. Sebastopol’s citizens give important perspectives and information on relevant topics. Many, many people give comment via zoom, especially at the end of meetings.
It is crucial that Council continue with zoom as the City of Sebastopol has so many critical community issues and the public needs to weigh in on our City budget, water rates and infrastructure needs.
Thank you,
Kate Haug
