Subject: Vote No on Divisive Israel-Hamas Resolution
Date: Friday, March 29, 2024 2:29:48 PM
I am a Sonoma County resident deeply concerned about your consideration of a resolution regarding the Israel-Hamas War. I’m asking you to vote no on this resolution which will not bring peace abroad, but will continue to exacerbate community tensions and increase hate targeting the local Jewish community – as we have recently witnessed at local board meetings and even at a local grocery store.
Furthermore, this resolution is flawed as it does not condemn the Hamas attacks of October 7 or call for the terrorist organization to be removed from power in Gaza. To authentically support a sustained peace in the region, the resolution must recognize that Hamas is not a partner for peace as they continue to call for the violent destruction of Israel. Hamas has repeatedly stated (read their charter) they don't believe in peace, definitely won't live peacefully next to Israelis (who are 20% Arab, by the way), and will continue on their path of death and destruction. As a peace loving Jewish member of Sonoma County, I have lost many friends to the absolute brainwashing of the Hamas-sympathizers who have yet to understand what they actually want for the region (they have denied their own statehood multiple times because they won't live peacefully next to Jews).
It is my hope that you will reject this divisive resolution and instead work to ensure that Sebastopol remains a welcoming city for residents of all backgrounds. Thanks for your attention to this matter.
In Gratitude,
