I don’t attend Council meetings in person or via Zoom, but that doesn’t mean I don’t care about the tough work you do or what is going on in our city. I read the Times and Press Democrat both, and try to keep informed.
My reaction to this current heart-sickening dilemma is perhaps simplistic but I believe, were these disruptive, rude, uncivil people to attend the meetings in person and to say the things they have said, I think and I hope that they would
be told to leave, be escorted out, or be arrested were they to resist or were the behavior to continue. Freedom of speech
does not mean you can say/do whatever you want and “to hell with everyone else in the room”. It’s pretty safe to get away with being offensive on Zoom—what can the Council do, mute them? But if there are immediate consequences,
they might consider behaving themselves.
