AI 6&7 electrification and ‘net zero’ public comment
I don’t want to waste council and staff time on this, but briefly our electric grid is a primary cause of wildfires, which in turn have a massive impact on home insurance
cost and availability.
The hard reality is we have a 3rd world quality electrical grid in west county which is not remotely reliable and
often a danger to public health due to power cuts and
brown outs.
The California Public Utilities Commission appear to be a politically partisan organization that provides little
oversight of PGE for consumers and is allowing excessive end user billing for work which was already funded and
should have already been completed.
Academic ‘climate’ ideologies and theories appear to drive the PUC based on recently captured digital data, to the detriment of consumers.
Fortunately I am not aware of a single gas outage or fire in the last decade, and think this service should remain in place as a choice and not be banned.
Given what a full and stressful plate council and staff have in 2024 with budget crisis, fire, garbage, city staff hiring, being sued by the ACLU for efforts at compassion for the homeless etc I think any efforts to expend time and energy on ‘Net Zero’ fashions and banning natural gas usage
should be tabled until such time as we have the
bandwidth to contemplate the feasibility of these
questionable goals.
