Sebastopol City Council,
I am horrified to learn that some people would consider cutting down an ancient, rare and iconic tree at the entrance to Sebastopol. I believe in retaining the town’s historic beauty and charm. If the cones are your excuse to cut the tree, why now? There is 140 years of history. If you do a little research you will learn that in Australia the infrequent arrival of the cones is the source of great celebration that brings the communities together. Perhaps you could create a unifying celebration for Sebastopol instead of creating destruction.
As a Sonoma County Master Gardener and as Sebastopol resident, I urge you to let the tree live for centuries to come.
Thank you for doing the right thing,
