Agenda Item 9: Sebastopol Municipal Utilities District
Dear Council and City Manager,
Now that substantial rate increases for water and sewer seem a foregone conclusion, I’m writing to suggest that a new approach to management of our utilities be considered.
Creation of a municipal utilities district for the city of Sebastopol would assure that future revenue and expenditures would be dedicated to purpose, and would no longer be subject to the whims of a city council that has proven itself incapable of fulfilling its obligation to manage utilities responsibly.
I would support a parcel tax dedicated to the establishment of an independent utilities district and am optimistic that other ratepayers would as well.
