Dear Sebastopol City Council,
We would like to share our support for “NO on J” (opposition to Measure J).
Sonoma County was founded as an agricultural community and some of our dairies are now six generational family farms. Measure J is a threat to our Sonoma County agriculture community and our rural way of life.
If passed this would drive our dairies out of business and cause a loss of jobs and land. This would also lead to an increase in food prices and a loss of our organic milk products that are produced by these dairies. It would also mean that families and restaurants would have to pay higher prices for their products and then need to raise their prices, which hurts small businesses.
Measure J was poorly written, and the facts were not based on our Sonoma County agriculture, but on factory farms that do not operate here. Our family farms are environmentally and animal friendly. It was written by a special interest group that does not represent our County values.
Measure J is opposed by many Sonoma County elected officials, both the Democratic and Republican parties, many organizations, businesses, and citizens.
By voting in Opposition to Measure J, our City of Sebastopol will show that it values our rural and agricultural way of life in Sonoma County.
