Dear city council members - I have been a resident of Sebastopol for 8 years. I understand the city council is considering whether to support Measure J at a meeting today. Let the public record show that I am staunchly against Measure J. I have talked to many of the proponents, when they were asking for signatures, protesting, etc and every single one was vegan. Also, as a lawyer, I have reviewed the text of the measure and reviewed the available materials and it will in no improve the lives of animals. Personally I only buy organic, pastured produce and meats and am very much in favor of treating animals well. But this measure will not improve animal lives. It will force out of business many family farms that are one of the reasons I love living in Sonoma County. I am very concerned that vegans from out of town have been able to come into our community and try to force their personal beliefs on us. If the city council does not definitively denounce this measure, I will be deeply disappointed and will vote against anyone in favor.
