Dear Sebastopol City Council,
I am writing today in opposition to item #8 on tonight’s agenda. We have been hearing meeting after meeting about the fiscal deficit that our City faces. We already have more administrative staff than other larger cities in our area. It is not the time to give a raise. It is time to cut positions!
You have insisted that a sales tax, Measure U, be passed to keep the City solvent. If it does not pass, it will be because of ill advised decisions such as this. The residents do not trust this group to make fiscally responsible decisions.
I also understand that this raise was not part of the approved 2024-25 budget. I ask that you do NOT approve this salary increase.
Sebastopol residents have recently been hard hit with PG&E increases, water & sewer increases, the upcoming Gold Ridge assumed fire tax, local school bond measures, and possible County & City sales tax increases. Ours is a predominately retired community, with residents on fixed incomes, residents say, “ENOUGH!”
Do NOT pass this salary increase.
Thank You,
Loretta Castleberry
