Dear Council Members,
I am a first time commenter but felt the need to say something regarding your Item 8 on your November 5th meeting agenda.
First, let me say I am a 4th generation Sebastopol resident, born and raised. I love this town. So I feel that I have some right to ask if you all are out of your ever loving minds!?! I am retired, on a fixed income but comfortable, but may not stay that way if you continue with your antics. What ever happened in the past to cause such financial issues for the city may not be your fault, but I will hold you responsible for anything occurring from July forward. Your water rate increase was brutal...but then you asked for a city tax increase. Now you want to give the assistant City Manager a $47,500 raise on, from what I've been told, is an already excessive $250,000 salary! And this raise wasn't even on the budget for 2024-2025! You are asking every person in the City to tighten their belts and pay more to help get the city out of a hole...and now this? Am I ever glad I voted against your increase. I obviously can't trust you with making fiscally sound decisions on our behalf.
