In the years 2013-2022, 5 of 10 years property tax revenue was negative, including 3 years in a row. In two of the 5 years, that revenue was positive, but the increase was 1 % or less. The expected 2% annual increase in property taxes being thrown around isn’t a guarantee, in fact, it’s a dream.
After actually looking at the data, I am opposed to continuing with this EIFD.
Knowing that city staff is already overburdened, and the annual increase isn’t a guarantee, this is an fiduciarily irresponsible way for Council to proceed.
