Subject: Change to Waste Management Provider

Dear Mayor Zollman, Vice Mayor McLewis, and Coucilmembers Carter, Hinton, and Maurer, It has come to my attention that there is a vote this week to change out our current waste management provider Recology for SCRR. I am hear to voice my concerns as a resident for this choice. In addition to higher rates for commercial and multi unit households this choice is not environmentally friendly, as there is not recycling facility within the same distance to manage the as with Recology. Given the enormous costs that waste management already has to employ in pink up and servicing, adding additional miles to process the waste seems like its compounding the impact. Additionally the current approaches SCRR takes in waste management will disincentive composting and recycling for many small businesses.
While there are surely some benefits to the city budget you, as city leaders, see in making this and many other change, I would request that this not be one of them With Gratitude,
