Dear Mayor Zollman, Vice Mayor McLewis, and Coucil members Carter, Hinton, and Maurer,
Please keep Recology as our waste provider. I have lived in Sebastopol for 10 years and have been very happy with their service. SCRR does not have a recycling facility in Sonoma County while Recology does, and SCRR plans to charge more for recycling and composting which will disincentivize these essential services. I cannot imagine how this decision could be justified. In addition, Recology is unionized and worker-owned and advocates for a living wage. It would be a real step backward to switch to a company whose practices are not as ecologically-oriented AND who has less concern for workers' rights and wages.
Please do the right thing and keep Recology. We count on our city council to make the right choice. In this case it is crystal clear.
