Dear Mayor Zollman, Vice Mayor McLewis, and Council members Carter, Hinton and MaurerI was dismayed to read that Sebastopol is considering changing from Recology to SCRR.
As long time Sebastopol residents, we have been very happy with Recology’s service. They have very friendly and responsive employees and provide excellent service. Most recently, we have enjoyed being able to put our organic matter directly in the yard waste bin, significantly reducing the amount we put in our trash container.
I know from teacher friends that Recology collaborates well with local schools and community groups in terms of recycling, composting and environmental education programs. The new provider would also have to drive out of county to dispose of the recyclables. Not only would a provider change negatively impact our community in terms of educational and environmental efforts, but it would also cost us more! Please reconsider this service change.
