Hello Council,
I am appalled by the staff recommendation to trash our relationship with Recology.
Councilmember Maurer was quoted by the Sebastopol Times saying, "the scoring for both was relatively close." Given that, the fact that Recology is employee owned and union while SCRR is not should be enough of a tipping point. However, with SRCC hauling our recycling and organic waste out of the county contributing to increased greenhouse gasses should clearly be the nail in the coffin of their proposal. It goes completely against our values as citizens and the city.
I applaud you for creating this bidding process. Apparently you have gotten a better proposal from Recology than what they were originally requesting. Continue to squeeze them.
Thank you for listening to us, the residents of Sebastopol.
