Dear Sebastopol City Council,
I'm the co-owner of Sebastopol Bike Center, and have lived in Sebastopol for over 30 years. I recently heard you were cancelling Recology's contract and are going with another company. I understand the rates will increase for customers with the new company. I also understand they don't have a recycling facility in the county, so are transporting waste far away: making the carbon footprint and risk of transportation issues that much greater on an already environmentally challenging business.
I feel Recology's rates are fine and their service is great. They're the company which services my home, our local business, and whom I have worked with at the Bodega Seafood, Art & Wine Festival (I was the producer for 27 years, until we closed last year), and Sebastopol Apple Blossom Festival. They are efficient and environmentally aware.
Please reconsider this decision! I know the city is financially challenged, but this is not an answer.
