Dear Sebastopol City Council Members,
I am writing to you tonight to appeal to your better senses when you vote tomorrow night for our garbage, recycling and compost services.

If you factor in the costs of all three services ( not just the garbage), we are getting a great deal with our current service, even with an increase in rates.

I would also like to point out that SCRR does not have a recycling facility in Sonoma County! It takes recyclables out of the County to facilities that have less processing capacity. This will have a major impact on the City’s recycling rate and greenhouse gas emissions.

From a workers perspective, I value that Recology is unionized while SCRR is not.

Don’t make it harder for our community to exist here in Sonoma County! These are good jobs and good people whom I appreciate seeing on the weekly. They have been kind and patient with multiple houses going through construction recently and I see them navigating in a safe and conscious way in our neighborhood.

Stick with Recology! Don’t replace a service that isn’t broken with something that has more issues than benefits! Thank you,
Nell Hergenrather and Andy Butler
