Hello, I was told that the city of Sebastopol is considering replacing Recology with a different company and is set to make a vote on it this Tuesday the 7th. It is very difficult to get any real numbers and it looks like the new/proposed company has purposely left out their recycling and composting rates because only their trash rates are lower than Recology. The information that is posted is very confusing, but if I’m not mistaken, the service for our business in downtown Sebastopol would increase by $756 per month if the change is approved. We cannot afford this. If you hadn’t noticed, local businesses are struggling. Two more businesses on Main Street closed their doors January 1st. Increases like this would result in more businesses failing in our town. It seems like the city is springing this decision on us last minute without giving anyone the proper time or information to make any sort of informed decision. If you can give me any information to show why this change would be good, that would be appreciated. Otherwise perhaps it would be wise for all of us to gather more information so we can make the best decision for the community possible. Thank you for your time Nick Izzarelli
