Dear Members of the City Council,
Happy New year. I hope this letter finds you
all well.
As the owner of ScreaminMimi’s, I am
writing to express my concern regarding the
consideration, to change the city’s waste
removal service provider. I understand you
are considering switching from Recology to
Sonoma County Resource Recovery
(SCRR).
While I recognize that decisions of this
nature are made with the best interests of the
city in mind, I would like to respectfully
voice my support of remaining with
Recology. I have had the composting bin
(& waste removal) with Recology since
before it was Recology (30 years this year).
They are truly committed to
environmentally responsible waste
removal.Recology has consistently provided
reliable, efficient, and environmentallyconscious service to our community. The workers are courteous, the schedule is
dependable, and the company has been
responsive to any questions or concerns I’ve
raised. They also have recycling centers in
Sonoma County and switching to SCRR
will increase emissions because they need to
drive the recycling out of the county.
They are quick to respond and everyone
I’ve spoken to at Recology knows or lives
in Sebastopol and is personally familiar
with the area. I always feel like they care
about their work and want to do the best
job.
And lastly, perhaps most importantly to the
bottom line, they are less expensive than
SCRR. Small businesses will be dealing
with the increased sales tax soon.
Personally chocolate prices are
skyrocketing as are a lot of my other base
costs. Please do not add to this by making
my waste removal increase and also become
a headache by having to establish new
contacts when dealing with a new company.
For these reasons, I am concerned about the
potential challenges and service disruptions
that may arise with switching to SCRR.

this matter. I look forward to attending
Tuesday’s meeting and hope that you will
take my concerns into account as you move
forward with your decision.
