Mayor Zollman, Vice Mayor McLewis and city council members Carter, Hinton and Maurer, I am still in complete disbelief that so many voices were cut short (60 seconds) and also ignored at the city council meeting two weeks ago.
I am hoping that perhaps you have had time to reconsider ratification of the contract with SCRR.
I ask that item 22, the ratification of the hauling agreement with Sonoma County Resource Recovery, be pulled from consent
items for the meeting on Tuesday 1/21 and placed on the regular agenda so that council members and staff can address the concerns that residents and
business owners brought up at the meeting two weeks ago. Concerns ranging from the extreme cost increases to businesses, the questionable awarding of points without any justification or how these points were awarded and on what basis, the disincentivizing compost and recycling with increased costs, the elimination of local, unionized jobs and totally ignoring Sebastopol's leadership role and Zero Waste goals in our general plan.
There are so many very important issues that were not explained to the public and it is wrong to move forward without complete clarification to the public.
Please remove item 22 from the consent calendar. 15 years is a very long commitment with so many unhappy residents and businesses.
